"Crimson Spring" by Ambassador Navtej Sarna
This month’s Book Club gathering was held at the residence of the Foreign Secretary on 29th September, featuring the book Crimson Spring by Ambassador Navtej Sarna.
The morning began with the arrival of members from SHOM and EASA, and we were pleased to see a strong turnout. Our guest author, Ambassador Navtej Sarna, was warmly welcomed, and the session commenced with a conversation between him and moderator Mrs. Aradhana Kapoor.
Crimson Spring centers around the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, but as Ambassador Sarna explained, it also explores the pivotal events that occurred before and after the tragedy, all of which helped fuel the momentum of India’s freedom struggle.
Ambassador Sarna read select passages from his book, which deeply moved and resonated with the audience. The floor was then opened for questions, leading to a rich and insightful discussion. The author shared his perspectives on the characters, historical context, and narrative choices, keeping the audience thoroughly engaged.
Mrs. Dolly Misri, President of EASA, delivered the Vote of Thanks and presented Ambassador Sarna with a plant as part of the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam initiative.
Following this, EASA Secretary Mrs. Monika Shrivastava announced upcoming events and introduced the new members of the Committee. A warm farewell was also extended to Mrs. Alpna Mittal, a valued Committee member, in appreciation of her contributions as a editor of the magazine and website design.
The event concluded with a sumptuous lunch hosted by Mrs. Misri in the beautiful garden of the residence, where members continued to enjoy meaningful conversations in a relaxed setting.
A heartfelt thank you to all members for attending and contributing to the success of the event. We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming gatherings.
